Biloxi is going all in, placing its bets on Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville Casino and Restaurant. The Biloxi City Council gave the go ahead for the casino.
This new casino, restaurant, and event center space will not have a hotel.
The casino will sit off 5th street on the edge of Biloxi’s Back Bay. Plans call for about 60,000 square feet of casino, restaurant, and event center space.
If approved, Cavanaugh said Margaritaville could get shovels in the ground as soon as April. Developers, he said, are looking to open the new casino at the beginning of 2012.
Also, this project is not associated with the ill-fated Harrah’s project on casino row off Highway 90.
No plans have been released from Caesars/Harrahs about what will happen at that site.
